Save on your company’s electricity bill

Take advantage of every space in your business to install solar panels and generate your own energy

How much can I save with my installation?

Contact us and we will make a personalized quote based on the characteristics and needs of your company. The great advantage of solar self-consumption is that you start saving from the first moment. You will only pay for the energy you consume. The rest will be poured into power lines and will provide you with an income.

What can we do for your company?

Frequent questions

Industrial self-consumption is an energy consumption model that allows industries to generate their own solar energy, that is, to be self-sufficient and self-consume their own energy, through the installation of industrial photovoltaic panels.

The energy produced is used directly to power the company’s operations, providing the possibility of reducing long-term costs and achieving greater energy independence in addition to reducing the carbon footprint and environmental impact.

In general, industrial photovoltaic self-consumption can be very profitable, especially if the company has a high consumption of electrical energy during the day and has available space to install solar panels.

To make this objective possible, at GFM we make qualified experts available to the industry both in the design and engineering part and in the installation. We do a personalized study and see the feasibility or not of the project and its investment recovery period (PRI).

The regulations in our country, Royal Decree 244/2019, of April 5, distinguishes two types of photovoltaic self-consumption, which companies can benefit from; without surpluses and with surpluses.

Industrial self-consumption without surpluses

These are all installations that do not discharge production surpluses into the grid, without taking into account the power of the industrial photovoltaic installation. It is necessary to have approved zero discharge equipment.

Industrial self-consumption with surpluses

These are the facilities that can pour generated and non-self-consumed surpluses into the distributor’s network, distinguishing two types:

  • Surplus compensation: This modality is limited to installations of up to 100 nominal kW and allows the company to receive financial compensation on its electricity bill. In order to benefit from this modality, it is necessary that the distribution company authorizes it.
  • Energy sale: These are industrial photovoltaic installations that sell their surplus energy (energy produced by solar panels and not self-consumed) in the electricity market, for which they will receive an economic remuneration for each kWh that they pour into the grid… It is necessary for the company to register as an Electrical Energy Producer and therefore have a CENAE as a photovoltaic energy producer.
  • Saving energy costs

– Less dependent on traditional and electric energy sources.

  • Property revaluation

– Automatically increases the value of the property

  • Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility

– Improvement of energy efficiency.

– Reduce your carbon footprint

– Construction of a business image committed to the environment.

  • Ways to acquire an industrial photovoltaic panel system
  • Direct cash purchase
  • Financed direct purchase
  • Direct cash purchase
    • Traditional modality where the ownership of the installation is the client’s own, being able to obtain discounts for making prompt payment.
    • The photovoltaic solar panel asset is incorporated into the company’s balance sheet, so the company will be able to deduct VAT and apply an annual accounting amortization of 10%.
  • Financed direct purchase
    • Like the direct cash purchase method, the ownership of the installation is the client’s own, in this case the interest on financing must be taken into account with the advantage that the company does not have to disburse capital.
    • As in the previous case, the photovoltaic solar panel asset is also incorporated into the company’s balance sheet and the company will be able to deduct VAT and apply an annual accounting amortization of 10%.
  • Renting photovoltaic panels
    • Renting photovoltaic panels for companies, similar to leasing, allows companies to enjoy solar energy without making the initial investment and paying the monthly rental of the photovoltaic installation.
    • Likewise, they are made through flexible payments and include services such as maintenance and updating of equipment. It is a simple option that ensures you have free solar energy in your company without worries and without initial investment.
    • The key differences between photovoltaic leasing and renting lie in the ownership at the end of the contract. In leasing, the client becomes the owner at the conclusion of the agreement, while in renting, the purchase at the end of the contract is a non-obligatory option. Furthermore, photovoltaic renting does not count as a risk in the Bank of Spain (Cirbe), while leasing does.

It is easier to access financing for photovoltaic renting in the banking sector, because ultimately it is a long-term rental and not a purchase. The advantages of renting photovoltaic panels are notable:

  • No down payment
  • Savings in the first month
  • Maintenance by the landlord
  • It is not counted as a financial risk in the Bank of Spain (Cirbe)
  • The company deducts 100% of the monthly payments as an expense
  • The owner of the rental is responsible for the installation and the client obtains 100% of the energy generated.
  • Customers have access to opt to purchase the system at any time, without penalty.
  • If you do not want to face the initial investment, you can make a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) or an energy purchase agreement.
  • This is a payment contract for renewable energy, where we are in charge of installing and maintaining the company’s solar plant and you are responsible for enjoying the panels by paying a fixed cost during the duration of the contract for the kWh consumed from the photovoltaic installation.

What is a PPA?

It is a long-term contract for the purchase and sale of energy from solar photovoltaic sources, the contract is made between the owner of the photovoltaic asset and the final consumer, in this case the client.

In this type of agreement, the owner of the photovoltaic asset undertakes to supply photovoltaic energy at a fixed long-term price and the final consumer client undertakes to acquire all the agreed energy during a specific period of years, which is normally 10 years. .

The PPA contract or payment contract for renewable energy can be interrupted at any time as long as the end customer acquires the photovoltaic asset or adds the penalties agreed in the contract itself.

The use of PPA is increasingly widespread to install photovoltaic panels for industry, without the company having to make an initial investment, with the advantage that the company or end user is guaranteed a much lower price per kWh than the one they obtain by purchasing the energy to its distributor.

When carrying out the industrial solar installation, it is essential that you have expert, qualified and approved personnel to carry out this type of work, since the installation of photovoltaic panels for industry requires very specific techniques, material means, machinery and security systems, which guarantee correct installation.

At GFM, a company specialized in solutions for industrial solar installations, we have our own engineering teams for the design and sizing, as well as highly qualified assemblers trained to work at heights who carry out the installation of industrial photovoltaic panels.
